No Visa Required (NVR) Seal for Bangladesh: Eligibility and Requirements

August 1, 2026 2 min read by Tahmidur Remura Wahid

Understanding the NVR Seal

The “No Visa Required for Travel to Bangladesh” (NVR) seal is a highly sought-after endorsement for foreign citizens of Bangladeshi origin and their immediate family members. Stamped directly into a foreign passport, the NVR seal allows the holder to enter and exit Bangladesh multiple times without the need to apply for a traditional visa.

Eligibility for NVR

According to the guidelines provided by Bangladesh diplomatic missions, the following individuals are eligible for an NVR seal:

  • Foreign citizens of Bangladeshi origin (excluding citizens of SAARC countries).
  • Spouses and children of foreign citizens of Bangladeshi origin.
  • Spouses and children of Bangladeshi citizens who hold foreign nationality.
  • Foreign investors who have invested at least USD 5 Million in Bangladesh.

Required Documents for NVR Application

To apply for an NVR seal, you must submit the following documents to your nearest Bangladesh Embassy or Consulate:

  1. A printed copy of the duly filled-in online NVR application form (from visa.gov.bd) containing the barcode.
  2. Your original valid foreign passport along with a photocopy of the bio-data page.
  3. Proof of Bangladeshi origin. This can be a copy of your old Bangladeshi Machine Readable Passport (MRP), National ID (NID) card, Birth Registration Certificate, or Dual Nationality Certificate.
  4. For children born abroad: A copy of the foreign birth certificate and a copy of the parent’s Bangladeshi passport.
  5. For spouses: A copy of the marriage certificate and the Bangladeshi spouse’s passport.
  6. One recent passport-sized photograph.
  7. The processing fee (e.g., $88 USD in the United States, payable by money order or cashier’s check).

NVR vs. Dual Citizenship

It is important to note that holding an NVR seal does not grant you dual citizenship status. The NVR is strictly a travel facilitation document. If you intend to engage in legal transactions, such as buying property or registering a business as a local entity, you must formally apply for a Dual Nationality Certificate (DNC).
